Whit aloud noise, so that horses and cows took fright, this meteorite feIl down in a meadow near Ellemeet, in the is land of Schouwen (Holland) on the 28th of August 1925 about 1130 in the morning. The only eyewitness describes the phenomenon as "a golden egg with a golden arrow", and asserts to have seen a thin cloud of smoke, 2 m. in length. accompanying the stone. The stone feIl almost vertically, slightly from the south, and penetrated into the sods to a depth of about Yz m., according to the written reports sent by Mr. A. P. VAN DER WEIJOE and Mrs. M. The Ellemeet meteorite which was stolen is found, but unfortunately it has been damaged. ELLEMEET (Serooskerken mass) was found near a tennis court (about 2 km from the observatory, 52° 4'36.91"N, 5° 9'18.46"E ). Unfortunately it has been damaged. Source
The Ellemeet was a witnessed multiple fall, which occurred on the island of Schouwen (Dutch province of Zeeland, in the southwest of the country) on August 28, 1925 between 11 and 12 am local time. The meteorite fragmented into at least two fragments during its passage through the atmosphere. Witnesses heard high pitched screaming sounds in the sky, frightening cows and horses, followed by the sound of an impacting object. Read more
