Astronomer Says Scilly Should Capitalise On Stargazing

Last night around two dozen local amateur astronomers went on a walk to The Garrison, lead by astronomer Simon Ould.
It's the first of two walks scheduled this week to mark Scilly's designation as a Dark Skies Discovery site.

Scilly Gets Dark Sky Discovery Sites

Scilly has five new Dark Sky Discovery sites, highlighting areas that are excellent for stargazing.
The Isles of Scilly AONB announced yesterday that the locations on the Garrison playing field, St Agnes cricket pitch, Bryher community centre, Tresco playing fields and St Martins cricket pitch have all been accepted by the UK Dark Sky Discovery Partnership,

Scilly To Celebrate Dark Skies This Month

Today is the first day of Dark Skies month and a series of events will celebrate the night view we enjoy on the islands.
Scilly has some of the clearest views of the stars in the UK due to our low levels of light pollution.
