A bright magnitude 15.6 type 1a supernova, 2007ft, was discovered  on the 15th July 2007 by the TAROT collaboration  in  the spiral  galaxy NGC 4677 in the constellation Centaurus.
The supernova is located 73" east and 21" south of the centre of the galaxy.

Position(2000):  R.A. = 12h47m03s.7, Dec. = -41°35'22"
