Pestera Muierii ('Women's Cave') is a 3566m-long is a multichamberedkarstic cave system, where the oldest modern human remains in Europe have been discovered. The name Women's Cave was given to the cave by the people from Baia de Fier. In olden times, when there were frequent wars, the women (and children) hid in the cave; thus it became known as the women's cave.
