Researchers from Ankaras Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ) have used local resources in the development of new radar absorbent coverings to be used in technology geared toward radar invisibility. The new materials developed by ODTÜ researchers significantly reduce radar visibility for ships, airplanes, helicopters and military vehicles. The materials are not flammable under any condition and are resistant to water, salt, plant growth and all kinds of abrasions and impacts. They are also light, due to their maximum width of two millimetres. And because all of the materials can be found and produced within Turkey, there is no dependence on foreign sources.
