A strong earthquake measuring 7.4 magnitude has hit near the island of Martinique in the eastern Caribbean, the US Geological Survey has said. The earthquake struck at 15:00 (19:00 GMT) off the north-west coast of Martinique at a depth of 145.4 kilometres.
A strong magnitude 7.4 earthquake occurred at 19:00:19 (UTC) on Thursday, November 29, 2007, in the Martinique region, Windward islands, 23 km NNW from Le Morne-Rouge, Saint-Pierre, Martinique, at a depth of 143.1 km.
