Proton-M, Russian military satellite Cosmos launched from Baikonur, the agency reports.
The launch of the booster rocket was executed on December 9 at 6.16 a.m. Astana time from launcher 24 of the starting complexes of platform 81 and took place in a regular mode.

A "Proton-m" Carrier rocket with a "cosmos" military satellite was launched on Sunday from the Baikonur spaceport, according to the representative of roskosmos's news.
The rocket launch occurred at 3.16 msk. The estimated time of automatic orbital insertion by the spacecraft is at 12.17 msk.
The purpose of the "Kosmos" satellite launch is the growth of the military orbital group.
The Russian "Proton-m" carrier rocket is the modernised version of "proton"heavy rocket, one of the most reliable launch systems in the world with a launch history, which exceeds 40 years.
The "Proton-m" rocket was launched for the first time in 2001 from Baikonur, and was intended for the launch of different payloads on the near earth orbits and departure trajectories.

A Russian Raduga 1 - 8 (Globus N18)  secret military  satellite aboard a Proton K / Energiya Blok DM-2 rocket is scheduled to launch from LC81R at the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, at 00:16 GMT, December  9th, 2007.
The 2000 kg geosynchronous communications relay satellite was built by NPO PM - Russia's main producer of communications satellites, located in Zheleznogorsk in Eastern Siberia.
