The preliminary orbital elements of comet C/2008 N1 (Holmes) indicate a perihelion passage on September 24, 2009, at a distance of 2.7 AU from the Sun.
Comet 2008 N1 (Holmes) was discovered by Robert E. Holmes, on CCD images taken with a 0.4m f/5.8 Schmidt-Cassegrain at Astronomical Research (H55). The comet was confirmed by the 0.4m Ritchey-Chretien telescope at La Caņada (J87).
