After receiving a $150,000 grant from the National Science Foundation in July, PUC is currently pursuing $150,000 in additional funding to buy a state-of-the-art, Ritchey-Chretien reflecting telescope. The telescope, dubbed the Northwest Indiana Robotic Telescope, will be donated to the Calumet Astronomy Center in Lowell. It will be housed at a dedicated observatory at Buckley-Howard County Park to take advantage of the darker sky south of Chicago for better observations.
