UK engineering students will make a delivery to the final frontier in the near future. Since 2006, students working with the Space Systems Lab have been designing, building and prepping a cube satellite for its flight into space, which could be as soon as February. A tiny satellite built by a consortium of Kentucky universities will be launched by NASA as part of its Glory spacecraft launch. The KySat-1 will launch in November. The consortium that developed the satellite is called Kentucky Space, a nonprofit enterprise "involved in designing and developing entrepreneurial and educational space platforms." Read more
NASA to launch Kentucky satellite A satellite built by a consortium of Kentucky universities, public agencies and businesses will be launched during a NASA space shuttle mission sometime in mid-2009. KySat-1, the first satellite built in Kentucky, is a cube-shaped unit powered by solar energy, Gov. Steve Beshears office said in a news release.
