China has successfully launched a Long March 2D carrier rocket with the Shiyan 3 and Chuangxin 1-02 Satellites from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northwest China's Gansu Province, at 00:15 UT (08:15 Beijing time), 5th November, 2008. The satellites were successfully inserted into orbit at T+15 and T+16 minutes after liftoff. The Shiyan 3 Satellite was designed by HIT (Harbin Institute of Technology) and will carry out an in-orbit demonstration of new technologies. The Chuangxin 1-02 satellite was designed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, will be used to gather hydrological and meteorological data. The launch marks the 112th launch of China's Long March series of rockets.
