From Galileo Galilei to NASA, people around the world have looked through telescopes to study the heavens for guidance, whether it's to navigate oceans or plan a space shot.
Alamogordo area residents have looked up at the cosmos for many years from the Buena Vista Elementary School observatory. It is the only telescope of its kind being used in southern New Mexico.
