The Valparaiso University Observatory has been hosting open houses for a peek at the night sky since 1985. But the school has nothing on Galileo and, in honour of the early astronomer's achievements, the university will provide public lectures and demonstrations in addition to the open houses, which start today.
"One of the major reasons is, it is the 400th anniversary of Galileo first turning a telescope to the heavens" - Todd Hillwig, assistant professor of physics and astronomy.
