Four children were killed and 16 others injured after high winds caused a sports centre in Barcelona to collapse.
Winds gusting to 100mph in some places has caused at least six other deaths throughout Spain and northern France after freak storms hit the regions over the past 24 hours.

An intense storm system is currently barrelling toward the Bay of Biscay, with a 50+ knot low-level jet pumping moisture northward ahead of a surging cold front.  This same LLJ will also create extreme low-level shear, especially where oriented in the appropriate direction for the expected easterly-southeasterly storm motions...which will happen in southwest France and extreme northeast Spain.
