Asteroid (271) Penthesilea

On 2009 Jan 29 UT, 2009,  the 65 km diameter asteroid (271) Penthesilea occulted a 11.9 mag star in the constellation Cancer.

Asteroidal occultation of a 11.9 magnitude star by a 13.9 magnitude asteroid. During the event, a late gradual dimming is seen in the light curve with a corresponding gradual brightening toward the end of the reappearance. This effect strongly indicates that TYC-1397-00920-1 is a close double star.

271 Penthesilea is a large Main belt asteroid.
It was discovered by Viktor Knorre on October 13, 1887 in Berlin.
