Ars received a lot of interest when we first reviewed the sub-$100 night vision goggles, and the new version of the hardware takes the product in a somewhat new direction. The new goggles are no longer strapped to your head; they are now something resembling a high-tech set of binoculars. You hold them up to your eyes when you want to see in the dark, and then take them away when you're done. Remember that awesome set of optics Luke used on Hoth? Much like that.
