A strong magnitude 6.4 earthquake occurred at 13:53:47 (UTC) on Friday, February 04, 2011, in the Myanmar-Indian border region, 85 km ESE of Imphal, at a depth of 88.8 km.

Location 24.616°N, 94.740°E

An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter Scale shook most of North-East this evening, creating panic in the region.
The epicentre of the quake was located at the Indo-Myanmar border and it occurred at 7.24 p.m., Central Seismological Observatory here said.

The fourth earthquake within a month - and the biggest in intensity in the past nine years - hit parts of Assam and Meghalaya past midnight yesterday, sending jittery people into a state of panic.
The earthquake measured 5.9 on the Richter scale, according to Upper Shillong Meteorological Observatory, which also pinpointed the epicentre to 24.3 north latitude and 94.6 east longitude on the Indo-Myanmar border.

A moderate magnitude 5.8 earthquake occurred at 19:51:07 (UTC) on Thursday, September 03, 2009, in the Myanmar-Indian border region, 95 km  ESE of Imphal, at a depth of 97.6 km.

Location 24.318°N, 94.712°E
