The 620 metre wide asteroid 1998 RO1 was discovered by the LINEAR Program, (Lincoln Laboratory ETS) on the 14th September 1998. The asteroid was discovered to be a binary from lightcurve observations taken by the Ondrejov Observatory and University of Western Ontario by P. Pravec et al on the 13-28 September 2002.
The asteroid is an Earth coorbital object, or quasi-satellite.
