There is a new plugin available for Internet Explorer that can make the browser resemble Firefox by adding tabbed browsing capabilities and an integrated search box. Moreover, the plugin improves IE's privacy and security by integrating a firewall designed to block out Internet exploits, phishing sites, spammers, spyware and worms, with a special HTTP filter that removes private data, and an anti-spyware tool that can identify and remove all pests in less then 10 seconds.
Of course an easier way would be to just install the latest Firefox browser…
You can now have Microsoft approved tabbed browsing in IE6, weeks before the feature will make its debut in Internet Explorer 7.0.
The catch is that you have to install MSN Search Toolbar to enable the feature:
The feature--long offered by IE competitors like Opera, Safari and Firefox, and by browser shells built to run on top of IE--is one of many that Web surfers have said they missed in the aging IE 6. IE has not had a major feature upgrade in more than three years. Last month, Microsoft confirmed speculation that it would offer tabbed browsing in the upcoming IE 7. Microsoft was not immediately available to comment on the new toolbar. My advice is not to bother.
