(03 Feb 2010) Nasa is monitoring about 20,000 pieces of space debris that whiz around the Earth, and NASA reported that the Oersted satellite will pass through a cloud of debris from the Russian cosmos 2251 satellite.
"We have received a warning from the Americans that the remains of the Russian satellite will pass within a distance of 400-500 meters" - Carsten Jorgensen, director of Termas Space Division.
It would not be possible to Immediately detect a collision, but Carsten Jorgensen hopes to get its news during tomorrow afternoon. The possible collision will take place 700 km north of the Beaufort Sea.
