Titanic Memorial Cruise MS Balmoral Southampton 8 April 2012 Titanic Centenary

The MS Balmoral cruise ship sail today from the port of Southampton, southern England, for twelve days to recreate the voyage of the Titanic, the famous ocean liner that sank in 1912 when it hit an iceberg.

In commemoration of the centenary of the tragedy, the Balmoral and part of the same port with the same number of 1,309 passengers than R.M.S TITANIC, which left the United Kingdom by April 10 en route to New York. Between the passage of the ship that sails today, where there are tourists from 28 countries, include relatives of victims and survivors of the shipwreck, as well as experts in their history and even a Belgian group of music that will touch the same themes that enlivened the evenings in the fateful voyage of the early twentieth century.

Titanic launch 100th anniversary marked in Belfast

Events will take place in Belfast later to mark the 100th anniversary of the launch of the ill-fated Titanic.
The ship was launched in Belfast Lough on 31 May 1911 by Harland & Wolff, then the largest shipyard in the world.

The RMS Titanic was an Olympic-class passenger liner owned by British shipping company White Star Line and built at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Ireland. At the time of her construction, she was the largest passenger steamship in the world.
Shortly before midnight on 14 April 1912, four days into the ship's maiden voyage, Titanic hit an iceberg and sank two hours and forty minutes later, early on 15 April 1912.
