Puerto Vallarta Will Host Mexico's Space Agency Forum Jan 28-29

Puerto Vallarta will host Mexico's 4th Space Agency Policy Forum this January 28-29 at the Puerto Vallarta Convention Centre. The Governor of Jalisco offered MX$100-million to fund one of the Agency's new sites; other states are in contention.

Mexico enters the space race

Mexican politicians approved the creation of a space agency that will seek to bolster research and raise Mexico's scientific profile.
The lower house of Mexicos Congress voted to support the agency, which was endorsed by the Senate in 2008.

Jose Hernandez, the local astronaut scheduled to fly into space next summer, is now involved in building a space agency in Mexico.
The proposed legislation entailing Hernandez's recommendations was introduced a year ago for establishing a technology research and development facility and a commercial launch platform for space tourism in Yucatan, Mexico.
