A Russian Kosmos-3M rocket lifted off with a military satellite on Tuesday at 6:08 Moscow time (2:08 GMT) from the Plesetsk space center in northwest Russia. The launch of Kosmos 2463 marks the newest addition to Russia's expanding network of military reconnaissance satellites. Russian officials refuse to disclose the satellite's mission, however based on the crafts orbit, it is believed to be a Parus communications and navigation satellite for the Russian Defence Ministry.
