A geomagnetic observatory of the Mumbai-based Indian Institute of Geomagnetism (IIG) was inaugurated this afternoon on the Assam Central University campus at Dargakona hills, 25km south of Silchar.
Inaugurated by the vice-chancellor of the Assam Central University, Tapodhir Bhattacharjee, the observatory is the second of its kind in the Northeast and 10th in the country.
