A 16-inch telescope, purchased through a $14,000 grant from the Toshiba Corp., is providing images that had previously been out of reach at the planetarium.
The telescope is second in size in the region, topped only by the 20-inch telescope owned by the Von Braun Astronomical Society in Huntsville, said Dwight McGee, the planetarium director.
