Cyclone Phet has not lessened in force to the degree expected as it passed over Oman, weather forecasters say.
Oil companies in Oman suspended their activities until the storm passed over, but said there had been little damage and no casualties reported.

Over 8,000 evacuated as Cyclone Phet expected to hit Gujarat coast on Friday

Alarm bells rang throughout Gujarat, as cyclone Phet intensified to a very severe cyclonic storm causing strong winds, thunderstorm and rainfall across the state in a dramatic switch from the sweltering heat on Wednesday. Phet could possibly hit Gujarat coast on Friday, the weatherman warned.

Cyclone Phet seen soaking arid north-west by weekend

The deep depression over west-central and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea remained practically stationary overnight on Tuesday but intensified faster than anticipated into a cyclonic storm, named 'Phet.'
