A magnitude 19 supernova, 2010gk, was discovered by Li, Cenko et al. at the Lick Observatory Supernova Search (LOSS) on the 17th July, 2010, in the edge-on starburst galaxy NGC 5433 in the constellation Canes Venatici. The supernova is located 1.9" West and 6.3" South from the center of the galaxy. As yet the type is unknown.
