Goodrich's ORS-1 Satellite Completes its First Year in Space
Goodrich Corporation (GR): announced that the ORS-1 satellite has celebrated its first anniversary in space. ORS-1, the first Operationally Responsive Space (ORS) satellite specifically designed to support combatant command operations, was launched from Wallops Island Flight Facility aboard a Minotaur I launch vehicle on June 29, 2011, at 11:09 p.m. EDT. After a one day delay due to the weather, and another brief delay Wednesday night, the ORS-1 satellite was launched into orbit from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport at Virginia's Wallops Island. Read more
An Orbital Sciences Minotaur 1 Rocket successfully launched today at 03:09 UTC after a 24 hour scrub, a delay due to ground support equipment, and then finally a third delay due to the flight termination system. The rocket successfully placed the ORS-1 Satellite into orbit.
