A Chorley man has reported seeing a 'fast-moving bright meteor' on Monday evening as sightings were reported throughout the UK. Some witnesses said the meteor had a "massive tail" amid darkened skies at around 5.30pm. Read more
People throughout the UK have reported seeing giant meteors showering the darkened skies. The BBC was first contacted by eyewitnesses in Glasgow, Scotlandwell and Durness who said they saw the light display at about 0540 GMT. Then stargazers from Bury, Monmouth and Kidderminster emailed to say they saw a meteor at about 1715 GMT. Read more
A meteor was seen streaking across the sky over central and northern Scotland early yesterday.
People in Glasgow, Kinross and Durness, Sutherland, reported seeing a bright light flashing through the sky at around 5.40am. It then appeared to break up into a number of pieces, leaving streaks of white light behind it. Read more
Early risers tracked dazzling meteor across north skies
A very bright UFO flashing through the night sky was seen by several people from the Highlands right across to Aberdeen-shire yesterday. Pest controller Edward Cumming was walking his dog at North Kessock on the Black Isle around 5.45am when he saw the bright object thought to be a meteor - flash in his direction from the Clachnaharry area of Inverness.
