Comet C/2011 A2 (Scotti) makes its closest approach to the Earth (0.886 AU) on the 4th April, 2011.

Comet C/2011 A2 (SCOTTI) was discovered on the 11th January, 2011, by J. Scotti  (Lunar and Planetary Laboratory) at the Steward Observatory, Kitt Peak.
The orbital elements of the comet indicate a perihelion passage on the 1st January, 2011, at a distance of 1.75 AU from the Sun.
