3rd Subaru International Conference/The First NAOJ Symposium: Galactic Archaeology - Near-field Cosmology and the Formation of the Milky Way, Shuzenji, Japan May 17-20, 2011
Stars in the Milky Way Galaxy and the Local Group galaxies contain the records of nucleosynthesis through stellar evolution and supernovae, formation and evolution of star clusters and dwarf galaxies, and the formation of large spiral galaxies. Rapid progresses in this field --usually called Galactic Archaeology-- have been made by large surveys of old stellar components of the Milky Way and dwarf galaxies and subsequent detailed spectroscopy, observations and theoretical studies of supernovae, massive simulations for the chemical and dynamical evolution.
