A new magnitude 11.7 nova V5588 Sagittarii was discovered by K. Nishiyama, Kurume, and F. Kabashima, Miyaki, (Japan) on the 27th March 2011. The discovery was made with a SBIG STL6303E camera on a 105-mm f/4 lens.

We began to perform the optical and near-infrared photometric observations of V5588 Sgr (=Nova Sgr 2011 NO.2) since Mar. 28. This object was discovered at 11.7 mag in CCD photometry on Mar. 27.8 by NIshiyama and Kabashima. Read more
