Comet C/2011 L1 (MCNAUGHT) was discovered on the 2nd June, 2011, by R. McNaught (Siding Spring Survey). The preliminary orbital elements of the comet indicate a perihelion passage on the 1st January, 2011, at a distance of 2.4 AU from the Sun.
