STARE will monitor four active galaxies through late summer and early autumn of 2011, with a primary goal of measuring the mass of the central black hole in each galaxy. Spectroscopic monitoring will be carried out at the SMARTS 1.5m telescope at CTIO (Cerro Tololo Interamerican Observatory) in Chile. Photometric monitoring will be carried out through a worldwide network of small telescopes. If you are interested in contributing photometry, please look through the pages on this site to learn about the targets, the data requirements, and the background science. Read more
