RMS Carpathia was a Cunard Line transatlantic passenger steamship built by Swan Hunter & Wigham Richardson. Carpathia made her maiden voyage in 1903 and became famous for rescuing the survivors of RMS Titanic after the latter ship hit an iceberg and sank on April 15, 1912. Carpathia herself was shot at and sunk in the Atlantic on July 17, 1918 during World War I by a German U-boat. Read more
