On Wednesday, 14 September 1988, at 6.50 am local time, a number of people saw the strange object come from the west and crossed the sky over Quebrada de Humahuaca in the Argentine province Jujuy leaving behind a smoke trail. After a moment, the sound of the explosion horrified witnesses and they saw the disintegration of the object, which fell to the ground in semi-flames.

The Palca de Aparzo (L5) meteorite fell in Jujuy, Argentina, on the 14th September, 1988.
A total mass of 1.430 kg was recovered.
