Comet C/2011 S2 was discovered on the 30th September, 2011, by R. Kowalski (Catalina Sky Survey). The preliminary orbital elements of the comet indicate a perihelion passage on the 23rd October, 2011, at a distance of 1.1 AU from the Sun.
