Stewart county (GA.) meteorite

In October, 1869, I learned through the public press that certain meteoric phenomena had occurred in Stewart county,. Georgia, and that one or more stones had fallen. Enquiries were immediately instituted by me, and through Prof. Willet I obtained for examination the only stone found, one that was seen to strike the ground.

The Lumpkin (L6) meteorite fell in Georgia, USA, on the 6th October, 1869.
A total mass of 340 g was recovered.
