Title: The stony meteorite fall at Patora, India Authors: Nayak, V. K.
Observations of the fall of a stony meteorite at Patora, India, on Oct. 20, 1969, are reported, and morphological characteristics of the meteorite are briefly described. Two fragments were recovered. The larger, weighing about 4 kg, is polyhedral and exhibits a uniform surface relief. The matrix consists of fine-grained silicates and nonvitreous minerals and contains rounded chondrules. The black fusion crust is well developed on all surfaces, is less than 1 mm thick and appears to be thinly laminated. An absence of regmaglyptic relief may be attributed to incomplete atmospheric action.
