The Palomar Transient Factory (PTF) has confirmed it is a type IIb Supernova

Possible supernova in NGC 5806

A possible magnitude 15.0 supernova was discovered on the 22nd January, 2012, in the spiral galaxy NGC 5806, in the constellation Virgo, by F. Briganti.
The supernova is located 10" west and 1" south from the center of the galaxy. 
As yet the type is unknown.
The galaxy also hosted the type II supernova, SN 2004dg

Position (2000):     RA 14 59 59.04 |  Dec +01° 53' 25.1"

z = 0.004533
