Sea Launch Releases Preliminary Payload Telemetry Data on Intelsat 19

Sea Launch announced today that it has released preliminary "Quick Look" payload unit (PLU) telemetry information to Intelsat S.A. and Space Systems Loral on June 8, 2012. The data covered the full mission profile from lift off at 22:23 Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) on Thursday, May 31st (05:23 UTC/GMT, Friday, June 1) through spacecraft separation. Sea Launch successfully inserted and separated the spacecraft into its predefined orbit, but it was later reported that the spacecraft failed to deploy one of its two solar arrays.

Intelsat 19 Satellite Update

Intelsat S.A., the world's leading provider of satellite services, reported a delay in deploying one of the two solar arrays on the Intelsat 19 satellite, which was launched by Sea Launch earlier today. Intelsat and Space Systems/Loral, the manufacturer of the satellite, are investigating the cause and are pursuing corrective actions. The spacecraft is secure at this time in geostationary transfer orbit.
Intelsat 19 is the planned replacement for Intelsat 8 at 166 degrees East, which serves customers in the north and southwest Pacific region. Intelsat 8 is currently expected to remain in service through the end of 2019, and no customer services are immediately affected by the delay. The satellite and launch are fully insured.

The Intelsat IS-19 satellite launched May 31 has failed to deploy one of its two solar arrays, Intelsat announced late June 1 an anomaly that has affected other Space Systems/Loral (SS/L)-built satellites and is likely to have ripple effects on two others preparing for launch in the coming weeks.

Intelsat S.A., the world's leading provider of satellite services, announced today that a Sea Launch Zenit 3SL launch vehicle successfully launched the Intelsat 19 satellite from a mobile launch platform in the Pacific Ocean. Liftoff occurred at 1:23 a.m. EDT. Sixty minutes after launch, at 2:23 a.m. EDT, the Intelsat 19 satellite separated from the rocket's upper stage and continued its ascent toward geosynchronous orbit.

Sea Launch AG has successfully launched the Intelsat 19 satellite from the Equator on the ocean-based Launch PlatformOdyssey, completing its eleventh mission for Intelsat S.A. and marking Sea Launch's first of three planned missions in 2012.
The Zenit-3SL rocket carrying the spacecraft lifted off at  05:23 UTC/GMT on Friday, June 1st, from the launch platform, positioned at 154 degrees West longitude in the international waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Sea Launch is preparing for the launch of the Intelsat 19 satellite. The satellite will be located at 166° East longitude as part of Intelsat's on-going fleet investment program.

Live mission coverage 

The launch broadcast is scheduled to begin approximately 20 minutes before lift-off. Lift-off is currently scheduled for 22:23 Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) on Thursday, May 31st (05:23 UTC/GMT, Friday, June 1).

The Sea Launch Zenit 3SL rocket with the Intelsat 19 satellite is scheduled to launch from the Odyssey platform, located in the Pacific Ocean, on the 1st June, 2012.
The two hour launch window opens at 05:23 UT.
