China launches 11th satellite for navigation system

China successfully launched a satellite into space at 12:12 a.m. Beijing Time Saturday, the 11th one of its indigenous global navigation and positioning network known as Beidou, or Compass system, the launch centre said.
The satellite, launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in the southwestern Sichuan Province, was boosted by a Long March-3C carrier rocket into a geosynchronous orbit.

Launch of Compass-G5 on Long March 3C


A Chinese Long March 3C rocket launched at 16:12 UTC today, 24th February 2012, Carrying the Compass-G5 payload into orbit.
