Comet C/2012 E2 (SWAN) was discovered on ultraviolet images taken on the 4th - 6th March, 2012, by the Solar Wind anisotropies (SWAN) instrument aboard the SOHO satellite, by V. Bezugly on the 8th March, 2012. This is the first Kreutz orbital group comet that has been detected by the SWAN instrument. The preliminary orbital elements of comet indicated a perihelion passage on the 15th March, 2012, at a distance of 0.0069520 AU from the Sun. The Comet did not survive the perihelion passage.
