The celestial body 189P/NEAT was first observed on the 30th July, 2002. The size is currently unknown but is likely to be ~7000 metres wide. It has an orbital period of 4.9777 years.
The ~7000 metre wide comet 189P/NEAT will make a close pass (66.9 lunar distances, 0.1720 AU), travelling at 12.47 km/second, to the Earth-Moon system on the 9th July, 2012 @ 16:16 UT ±00:01.
