Cybersecurity Technologies Research Laboratory

Sandia/California's new Cybersecurity Technologies Research Laboratory (CTRL) now offers an open yet controlled area for cybersecurity professionals from the Bay Area and across the country to meet and discuss critical cyber research issues. A grand opening for the facility, which resides on the grounds of the Livermore Valley Open Campus (LVOC) and is part of the lab's Cyber Engineering Research Institute (CERI), was held on June 12.

Flame and Stuxnet makers 'co-operated' on code

Teams responsible for the Flame and Stuxnet cyber-attacks worked together in the early stages of each threat's development, researchers have said.
Flame, revealed last month, attacked targets in Iran, as did Stuxnet which was discovered in 2010.

Israel rejects link to malware cyber-attack

Israel has dismissed suggestions that it might be behind the Flame cyber-attack.
Several media reports linked comments made by the country's vice prime minister with the malware, which has infected more than 600 targets.

Cybersecurity researchers on Monday announced the discovery of Flame, a piece of malicious software that one firm has called "arguably ... the most complex malware ever found."
At this early stage of analysis, only a few of Flame's functions are understood, reports Kaspersky Lab, the Boston-based cybersecurity company that uncovered it. Because of Flame's size and complexity, it could take years to unpack completely what the program can - and has - done, experts add.
