The meteorite Knyahinya was the most significant impact of a meteoroid in Europe in historical times. The strike took place in the mountains in the north of present-day Ukraine village located Knyahinya (Transcarpathian Oblast , Raion Velykyi Berezny) on 9 June 1866 between 16.00 and 17.00 hrs. The largest stone, which broke into three pieces on impact, weighted 279kg. I is now on display in the Natuiral History Museum in Vienna, Austria. See more
