NGC 685 is a magnitude +11.2 barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Eridanus.
NGC 685 was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 Inch) speculum reflecting telescope at Feldhausen Road, Claremont, Cape Town on the 3rd October 1834.
