NGC 859 (also listed as NGC 856) is a magnitude +13.3 spiral galaxy in the constellation Cetus.

NGC 859 was discovered by American astronomer Lewis A. Swift using a 40.6 cm (16 inch) Alvan Clark and Sons refractor at the Warner Observatory, East Avenue, Rochester, New York, on the 3rd October 1886.
