NGC 868 (also PGC 8659, UGC 1748 or GWT 387.63) is a magnitude +14.0 elliptical galaxy in the constellation Cetus.
NGC 868 was discovered by American astronomer Lewis A. Swift using a 40.6 cm (16 inch) Alvan Clark and Sons refractor at the Warner Observatory, East Avenue, Rochester, New York, on the 3rd October 1886.
