NGC 550 (also MCG 0-4-146, UGC 1021 and PGC 5374) is a magnitude +12.7 spiral galaxy located 268 million light-years away in the constellation Cetus.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Clayhall Farm House in Old Windsor on the 8th October 1785.
